Simple island Weddings | Simple, Fun, Stress-Free St Thomas weddings can be simple and affordable. Stress-free Virgin Islands weddings are our specialty. We'll do the work - you have the fun.

Coral Bay is laid back paradise. Away from the hustle and bustle of St. Thomas and crowded Cruz Bay.

Coral Bay is a rural oasis of ex-pats, small restaurants, and rental villas, not to mention donkeys, goats wandering in the road, and numerous cats.

We stayed at a rental villa in the hills above Coral Bay where we could see the sun rise over the ocean each morning. A perfect spot to relax, reflect, and enjoy being together as a family.

If you come to Coral Bay it is essential to rent a 4 wheel drive vehicle either in St. Thomas (which is what we did) or from the rental companies in Cruz Bay.

If you rent in St. Thomas be sure that your rental company will allow you to take the vehicle over to St. John on the car ferry, many will not allow their cars to go over to St. John because of the narrow dirt roads.

We rented from Budget at the St. Thomas airport, and had excellent service. Be prepared for the driving experience of your life. They drive on the left side of the very narrow and twisting roads and to make things even more interesting the cars are left hand drive.

I suppose this is so you can easily see if you are headed for the ditch. The locals drive fast and the terror of avoiding an oncoming cement truck barreling down the road is an experience I will not soon forget. While the driver keeps her eyes on the road, the passengers will be treated to remarkable vistas.

The 30 minute journey over the mountains to Coral Bay is well worth the white knuckle driving experience , because when you arrive you will be treated to a small village with good restaurants and great beaches just up the road at Lameshur and Salt Pond Beach, both exquisite and lightly used - 4 wheel drive required.

Some of the restaurants where we ate included Skinny Legs - the island's only sports bar (the owners appear to be members of Red Sox Nation) great burgers and other simple fare.

the Donkey Diner for an excellent breakfast, the Shipwreck Landing - just okay the night we were there; and Island Blues, a bar/restaurant with nice oceanside seating and good food reasonably priced.

For groceries, beer, rum, wine, etc. there is a Lily's Gourmet Market on route 107 (?) a couple of miles south of the junction, expensive (as are all of the markets on St. John) but with quality chicken and beef for the grill, along with a small assortment of fresh produce.

If you are renting a house in Coral Bay your best bet is to do most of your grocery shopping on St. Thomas or in Cruz Bay.

While Coral Bay is a bit off the beaten track, many of us need to be off the beaten track. I know I did. St. John was the most relaxing and satisfying and laid back vacation experience I have ever had in the Caribbean. I plan to return, again and again, to this remarkable place.

Johnny B is a very talented musician who we really enjoyed watching play on a hot night in October at Island Blues Bar and Grill in Coral Bay, St John USVI.

“Simply Paradise.........”

Third trip in four years. Hate to recommend this place and make the best keep secret of this place in the Caribbean known. It is simply soooooooooo laid back.

Rent yourself a house up at the top of the hills, get a 4X4, go the the bars and restaurants, drive to all the beaches, sandy on the north shore, rocky and snorkel specials on the SE.

The cast of characters indeed justify the bumper sticker that "St. John is the World's largest outdoor asylum". I wish I could join them on a permanent basis.

There some issues, like lack of a water system, each house has a cistern for rain water and you must learn to really conserve water, but all I can think of is returning next year. Hit the place in the low season, May through October, it is even better when the snow birds go away........

“Villa Calabreeze, Coral Bay”

On our 12th visit to St. John we rented Villa Calabreeze thru Windspree Vacations. The villa is a short drive up a paved off of the main road in Coral Bay.

The villa was perfect for our needs and a real value for the price. The new hot tub is a great addition. We had a couple of minor issues when we checked in that were addressed by the owner (who lives in a home just above the villa) immediately and in a very friendly manner.

The villa was equipped with a large supply of beach & bath towels as well as beach chairs and coolers. The photos on Windspree's website are accurate. The sunrise from the upper deck was a sight to behold!
